Why blogging is so difficult in 2026?

Blogging is one of the most difficult things nowadays. There was a time when blogging was still quite easy. However, now things have changed. I think that this is mainly due to a lot of competition. However, competition is not the only thing that makes blogging so difficult. I think that SEO difficulty has also made things very hard. So, why blogging is so difficult? What are your thoughts?

Blogging seems difficult due to heavy competition. However, if you use the right kind of techniques, you will eventually succeed. You need to use the right kind of keywords. Write articles related to hot topics such as cryptocurrency, AI, graphic designing, making money online, online trading, eBooks, freelancing, horror, fiction, and other stuff. You will surely see some positive results. These topics generate a good number of visitors to your blog.

Blogging is so difficult because search engines such as Google are over-saturated with a lot of content. This is one of the main reasons why simply using popular keywords alone would not work until it unless your website is ranked well by search engines like Google. This makes blogging extremely hard. Having said that, many people start a blog with the intention of making money and this is why bligs fail. Making money alone should not be the only reason behind creating a blog.

Because it’s not like back in 2010, when blogs were in vogue or a major niche; nowadays, video is king—everyone likes watching videos, whereas blogs are generally just text and images.

Blogging is so difficult because SEO is becoming so difficult by the passage of time. Apart from that, now blogging is not just about making money. Blogging is no longer a guaranteed way of making money. Now blogging is all about spreading Information and sharing knowledge. Apart from that, blogging is not everyone's cup of tea. You need to be a professional in order to create and maintain blog.

When I started blogging in the late 90s/early 2000s, blogging was hard because there weren’t enough people on the internet who matched your niche.

Now in 2026, blogging is hard because there are so many people that broad niches can’t develop, and so many people that there is more competition than ever.

The solution?

Niche down.

Target a more specific audience and write about a more specific topic.

When I first started a hiking blog 10 years ago, it wasn’t doing well. That’s because there were thousands upon thousands of other hiking blogs. I was a little fish in a big pool of big fish. I was a needle in a haystack.

So, I niched down.

I started writing about hiking in my local area. 10 years later, I’m the main blog in my competition, and I write so much content that other bloggers have a hard time competing with me.

Niche down. It works wonders.

Well, blogging isn’t hard, you can easily create a blog and start blogging. What is actually difficult is building traffic and generating revenue. If you are blogging for money, you will find it difficult, if you are blogging because for the passion of writing and builldng audience, blogging is easy and fun.
