I’ve been thinking and wondering: how dependent are we actually on AI?
If AI companies went down for a week, what would change in your day-to-day life? What about your job? Will there be a big change in how you are handling tasks?
Maybe more casual AI users will have little to no impact in their life if AI just went down, but it’s interesting to hear your opinion.

How dependent are you on AI?
No doubt AI has made my life easier especially when I need to search for information quick. It has also made some of my daily tasks easier. But I make sure that I do not outsource my own thinking to AI. I still get everything I get there too.
I don't know if I'm dependent on it as such, but it is a very important tool in my day-to-day life, so I'd say about 40%.
I must admit that humanity is actually much more reliant on AI than previously thout. We need solutions of each and every problem and we use AI for such small things. I think that this is a huge problem for humans as humans need to use heir own intelligence as well. Completely relying on AI would have a bad effect on your own critical thinking skills.
I use AI a lot for finding data and for research purposes, but I won't actually say I am very dependent on it.

Right, I mean, you use it normally; it’s not like your life would be over if it ceased to exist, so to speak—lol.
I give AI all my ideas and it generates the code I need to develop controllers etc for my site but if AI went down, I’d maybe have to go outside and sniff this thing called fresh air…

Honestly speaking, I moderately depend on AI. AI could make several mistakes, so this is why it is never a good idea to entirely depend on AI. AI could help you when it comes to petty taks such as solving math problems and help you learn a language. However, it cannot replace experts for sure. Regardless of that, AI is still extremely powerful tool that could help in many ways.

I completely agree with you. While AI is an incredibly powerful tool for streamlining daily tasks, learning new skills, or troubleshooting simple problems, it is far from infallible. Because AI models can hallucinate or output inaccuracies, human oversight and critical thinking remain essential. It should be used as a helpful assistant rather than an unquestioned authority, especially when expert judgment is needed. Always double-checking its outputs ensures you get the benefits of AI without falling prey to its mistakes.
I use AI every now an then, I use it as a personal assistant, I use it for my work, I even use it for random advice. However, I am not depended on it. If there is a need to let go of AI, I can easily do it.
Yes Ai can be very useful even to a writer like me. But I try not to be dependent on it. I have always been a versatile and witty writer and I want to continue that wsy. So I don't want to be mentally lazy so I just keep Ai around but not necessarily depending on it.
I wouldn’t say I am overly dependent on AI, but it's become a tool I use much more often in my day-to-day life, both when working online and when I am searching for something.
I do feel that if we were to lose AI, it would probably affect me at first, but I could more than likely adapt and move back to how things were before we had AI as developed as it is now.
I have become way too dependent on AI. I am actually using it right now for car searching (Google AI Mode is awesome for this). It can read pages I send it and tell me if the vehicle has the things I’m looking for.
Most of the time when I search on Google, I end up talking to the AI Mode now 😂
At the job I just left, the volume of marketing emails we were developing were so high that I could not, as an email developer, dedicate the time needed to hand-code certain aspects. I used ChatGPT daily for those sections and thankfully because I know code, I was able to explain what exactly was working and was not working when testing.
On my own forum, I create many plugins with the help of Claude. It’s made me work smarter I think because while I could do the things on my own, it’s quicker to work with Claude.
