How many years do you typically keep a smartphone before upgrading to a new one?

I keep my phone for 3 to 4 years before I can even think of upgrading it. I do not see a reason to upgrade every year when the difference between models are very little and price is extremely high. Moreso, it doesn't make sense financially to buy a new when the one I am using still does the work. My current phone is up to 2 years and it's still working good.

Right now, I have had the current phone I have for 2 years, and I am starting to realise I may need to upgrade, but that is mostly because I play more mobile games than I used to when I purchased this phone, and with each update of the games I play, it becomes more intensive on my phone.

In the past, before I was playing more mobile games, it would be around 3 - 4 years before I needed a new phone.

I go through phases of wanting to upgrade my tech, but at the moment I’m holding strong with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. No need to upgrade. I was considering switching to the Google Pixel but too much work. So…. lol

It depends on whether something has broken or not, but generally it’s every 4 to 6 years. However, since technology is advancing so rapidly, I might replace it sooner—within 2 to 3 years, or perhaps 2 to 4 years. Technology moves so fast that it wouldn’t surprise me if a smartphone became unusable in a short amount of time; in any case, that’s typically the timeframe in which I end up replacing it.
