I noticed my laptop started overheating recently. It doesn't happen before which is giving me a serious concern. The overheating becomes bad when I'm playing video games.

How can I stop this overheating?

Certain brands like Dell are known for overheating. My current and previous laptops were Asus, and they stay cool!

Overheating on a laptop while gaming can't be stopped. You can get a cooling pad to reduce it, but heating while gaming on it is completely normal. Also, you can dust it off and do a fresh installation of Windows, update drivers and BIOS.

I don't play video games with my laptop, so I've never experienced any overheating issues. It's HP laptop brand I've been using over the years and they are the best.

If I use it for a long time—especially while plugged in—then yes, it does heat up, but generally not otherwise. It could be due to the ambient temperature where you're using it; that can be fixed by getting a cooling pad for the laptop. In a worst-case scenario, the laptop might need repairs due to damaged cooling fans. It could also be caused by dust buildup or worn-out thermal paste, so you should have it checked out.
