Have any of you registered a domain name with the .forum gTLD instead of another TLD?

I typically stick to a .com and nothing else.

But I want to experiment. I got a good one, too. Cycling.forum.

It is like $40/year to renew. That’s the bad part about it.

Trail Running Forum - A forum dedicated to trail running, gear, training, and more.

I usually stick with .net although my general discussion forum uses .online

PopFuse – Your hub for movies, TV shows, music, gaming, celebrities, and pop culture.

Community Interviews – Get to know the people behind online communities through interviews.

Bingely – Your blog for movies, TV shows, reviews, and entertainment news.

Gizmo Network – Where chaos meets creativity! Explore forums, websites, and creative projects.

It’s crazy how much some of these TLDs go for on yearly review.

I never used a dot forum extension, I have a few odd ones for some of my sites. I have .zone for Thee Zone and it can be quite expensive to renew it. Not as expensive as a .forum though. I also have a .ing, and a .top. I also have a .online and was using it for a Men I Trust fan forum I thought of making but I didn’t promote it and let it die.

Well, even though it seems like a dot forum domain might be a good domain, I would rather stick to dot com domain only. I think that the dot com domain is an ideal domain for forums and it is most commonly used domain nowadays. A dot com domain may cost much more, but it looks and sounds professional.

.forum domain is an interesting experiment. I think it's the best for online communities because it make your site look unique. But the renewal cost is very high but if you are looking into branding, it's worth it.

I tend to stick with .com’s, I don’t see myself purchasing a .forum domain extension.
