What’s your worst website disaster story, and how did you recover from it?

We’ve all had those heart-stopping moments where a site goes completely dark, a database gets corrupted, or a routine update turns into a total mess.

Whether it was a server crash, a bad plugin update, a domain name expiring by accident, or getting hacked - what’s the absolute worst disaster you’ve run into with one of your sites?

How did it happen, and more importantly, how did you fix it (or survive it)?

I tried to create a forum using a free domain. I was hoping that I would attract a lot if traffic by that blog. I used a free domain and made sure that I upload articles in a regular manner. I even designed that blog myself. However, things never went well and I had to abandon it, as it was not proving to be a great deal after all.
