I started my first website about 20 years ago. I was inspired by @cpvr when I joined https://virtualpetlist.com in its early days, which eventually led me to start coding my own site.

I learned a lot from a virtual pet site that had been hacked, and its code was released publicly. That got me into PHP programming, where I started making my own feature changes and fixing bugs. It was a great way to learn and develop my skills.

How about you? How did you get started with websites?

I was a big fan of Promotion Wars back in the day and saw there were resource sites. I designed one using some trendy iframes on Geocities and became 2nd biggest resource site.

Then I designed websites for LWHD-TV, which was a site you could watch wrestling. Made £100 when that sold.

And I’ve just had itch ever since to keep designing stuff.

I started a multiple niche blog a long time ago. The problem with that website was the fact that it was a blog which was based in a free domain. It never became successful. I wanted to generate a lot of revenue through that blog. Having said that, I might start a blog in the future. I always wanted to restart a multiple niche blog. Such blogs are really interesting.

I started out using WebTV in the 90s and saw that they had a site builder option.

Once I got a computer, I realized you could do more with HTML.

I opened my first forum using phpBB version 1. I didn’t take it that seriously until I started using phpBB version 2 and PhpNuke. I miss those days.

Well, I started my blog a long time ago. I was inspired by many people and I became fascinated with the idea of generating revenue and making people read my articles. I even published a few articles on my blog. Despite that, I never actually gained much success. This was one of the main reason why I had to shut down my blog. It was based on a free subdomain.

I start my first site because I want to share my ideas and knowledge with other people. I also wany to connect with them as well. But 90% started blogging because they want to make money from it. And that's a big mistake.

My first site started around 2012 out of curiosity. I started messing with the database and cleaning errors inside the cPanel. Even though it was a total nightmare, it taught me real site management skills.

I found InvisionFree by asking how forums were created on a vBulletin forum I was active on, and I wanted to create my very own Yu-Gi-Oh message board for enthusiasts like myself.

I started my first site three years ago, it was a community that educate the youth about latest events and happening in academy sector. I also monetized the community with google adsense, but sadly, the site was hack last week.

I started my first site in 2007, it was a free hosted site where I republished my newspaper articles. I was trying to built it as an archive for my published articles. I did not create self hosted site until 2015, it was a personal blog.
