Backlinks are absolutely necessary for forums for search engine rankings, AI citations, as well as traffic. However, backlinks should come from authoritative and relevant websites. Sadly, it is really difficult to build backlinks from authoritative sites. One strategy that works for forums is joining other popular forums on the same niche and sharing your link in the signature and profile. You can also do guest posting on blogs and websites and link back to your forums. Publishing content on your forum niche on content aggregators can also help you build quality backlinks?

What methods do you use to build backlinks for your forum?

I think I’ve always primarily depended on signature and profile advertising for backlinks. I’ve added my site to some directories too.

I’ve never intentionally gone out of my way for this. I will have a signature on forums that allow it though.
