Do you think it's bad to spend too much time on the internet? Why or why not?

Yes, I think that the Internet can be an addiction.

When I was younger, I would spend most of my time surfing around on the Internet. And most of that surfing wasn't very healthy either. It's important to spend time with other people who are present in your life. Slow down, sip some coffee, swap some stories, laugh, share a meal together, and go outside to do something with your hands WITH other people.

I believe part of the problem, at least in America, with this whole "Loneliness Epidemic" is that people stopped being around each other. Sure, some human beings can be disgusting, but we are social biological creatures, and we crave physical interaction with others.

Whenever I'm on the Subway, sometimes I'll peek up from the anime that I'm watching and I'll notice that everybody is glued to their phone. I don't think that's very healthy either. And I know that I'm guilty of that too, because let's face it, riding in the subway is boring! LOL

However, in 2026, it seems that maybe it's not the Internet that's truly the bad guy here. I think it's Social Media. Because at least on forums, you're interacting with other people. Social Media on the other hand, your mostly absorbing other people's content, and maybe posting a quick comment here or there. So perhaps we need to clarify the activity?

I think it can be bad if you spend too much time on the internet, mainly because it’s easy to lose track of time and end up sitting there for hours without doing anything else. It can also take time away from other things like going outside, seeing people, or doing something productive.

That said, the internet isn’t a bad thing on its own. It’s great for learning, staying connected, and even hobbies like gaming or streaming. I think it’s really just about balance, using it for useful or enjoyable things without letting it take over all your time.

I think it can be, but for some, the internet is a source of life for a lot of us. We use it for our passions, and love. We also use it build online communities, so no, I don't believe there's a such thing of spending too much time on the internet.

Especially if you spend time with your family, friends, and go out as well. The internet is what you make of it. You have the freedom to choose.

If you aren't getting up and being active, it's definitely a bad thing!! Get outside, get your Vitamin D, fresh air and some exercise every now and again.

Plus, you want to protect your vision, so don't be in front of a screen constantly. Look away at a distance :)

In all walks of life there are situations that make people kind of overdo what they are doing be it studying, playing, eating, the works Internet is one such category where people choose to overdo and as is the case with every other situation limit is recommended

There is nothing much we can do with those addicts who have abandoned off line intereactions and have buried themselves in the virtual world This way of life is here to stay and it is not just with th GEN Z even seniors are getting addicted to it.

I definitely get sick of the net. But my job provides a break 3 times a week. For 24 hours a week, my phone is mostly off.

It is bad because we need to find a balance on how we relate with other people physically. Everything should not be about just sitting there with your phone or laptop talking to people online. Sometimes, you need to go out there to talk to others in the neighbourhood.

The answer depends on what actually you are doing on the internet. if you are wasting time watching youtube or playing games too much, it is certainly bad thing. I work online and I spend 7-8 hours everyday on the internet and I think it is good for me because I work and make money
