At my first job, I was casually being given more and more responsibilities without any compensation. There were no extra benefits, no increase in payment. Instead, failing to fulfill the required amount of new tasks was going to get my paycheck reduced.How would you react to such a situation? Would you resign and search for a new opportunity or would you talk with the management to revise your responsibilities?

We actually have 😂 One minute we're having a proper serious conversation and the next we're arguing over who gets custody of some imaginary cookies 🍪 or feeding @Gizmo after midnight. I quite like the balance tbh : )

I will never agree to work extra hours without being paid for it. If I decide to help cover for a friend, that's on me and I wouldn't ask for more pay. If I'm off, there's nothing that's going to make me report at work even if our boss called me.

It’s not working extra hours but taking on extra stuff during your work day which you normally didn’t have to do. In my case, they added responsibilities from a higher role but didn’t increase my payment.
