What are the mistakes people make when it comes to forum niche?

When it relates to forum niche or deciding the forum niche to launch the forum on, what are those mistakes that you can say that newbies should be made known of when they are about to launch a new forum? Which one have you made in the past?

choosing one of the most profitable niches without having the slightest idea about the subject, simply because it has a high CPM or is among the most profitable ones

When it comes to a niche, I think the biggest mistakes are choosing one based on trend and not passion.

If John chooses to make a forum about crypto because it’s popular but knows nothing about it, and Jane makes a forum about crypto because she’s really into it, Jane is likely going to have a better forum because she knows how to keep it active and answer questions about crypto.

If there is no passion, then it’s a bad decision.

I think that selecting the wrong kind of niche before starting a forum might be one of the biggest mistakes forum owners could make. Before starting any kind of forum, it is always important to select the right sort of niche. You must have proper knowledge of the niche or you must be deeply interested in the niche in the first place. This is the crucian thing before starting any kind of forum.

Common mistake is to choose a niche that is too broad or too small. You need to find a balance between what you know and what has many audiences. That middle ground is the best.

But what if you are really into a niche and have vast knowledge, but that specific niche is too crowded? I think if it's too small, it can always grow and become more popular. This will give you a huge advantage as you will be one of the main forums in your niche.

I have seen way too many times those who choose to open a forum on a niche that is trending, popular, and profitable, but have absolutely no idea about the niche that they chose.

This then leaves them struggling for content, especially if they are unable to hire writers who have knowledge within that niche, and eventually they just give up and move on.

That’s a good question. What if that niche isn't profitable at all or has a limited market? It would be better to learn something new—something you genuinely enjoy but that is also profitable. In other words, you should look at the profitable options available and pick one you like; that would be far more logical. Relying solely on profitability or solely on passion rarely leads to a good outcome.

Well, not all kinds of niches are equal. I think that some niches are certainly more in demand. For example, the niche of cryptocurrency and investments are in a really huge demand. The fact remains that such kind of niches alo attract traffic and these niches have a really good CPM and RPM rates s well when it comes to advertising.
