Working night shifts only?

If you were offered 50% on top of what you are already making, but you have to work at night only, would you take this opportunity?

Personally, I wouldn't trade my sleep for a 50% increase in salary. My health and peace are more important to me. The extra money won't make up for them.

My partner worked at McDonalds doing night shift for a while. 11pm till 6am, It ruined my sleep pattern because I struggle to sleep without them but it brought in the money so I couldn’t complain too much. The place they work at now is only open during the day which is good.

It's even worse for people who are in a relationship… It can affect more than just sleeping. Not having your partner close to you might affect emotional health and it will make a person feel unhappy and less productive. Well, at least the extra money was of good use. I also didn't know McDonald's pays that much more for night shifts.

I think there was a small overnight allowance but I’m not entirely sure if that was because my partner was a member of the fast food union here in New Zealand or if everyone who works there overnight gets it. They also got a free meal and a small transport allowance.

How easy was it to adjust your sleep patterns?

Do you at least get any compensation for this? I know some workplaces offer free drinks to help you stay up at night. Maybe a free meal included too. But, most importantly, they should give you a bonus to the paycheck for working so many night hours.

Get an extra £21 for the 3 nights that’s it haha

50% salary increase for night shifts could be so tempting, but it could ruin your health as well. So, I believe sleep is important. So, you need to compare the money against the impact on your well-being as well.

I have never had the misfortune of being on a night shift It has always been a 9 to 5 job unti I started my own business and there again being my own boss I had timings to suit me.

There was a time that I was moved to the plant section of our company, and it involved working at night. I had to see the director a week later to tell him that such an arrangement wasn't going to work at all. We had a short talk about how my health was being affected, and after a week, I was sent back to the office that opened only during the day. It was a difficult phase for me working at night, and I can't try such at all.

I worked the night shift at Music City Center in Nashville for a few months. It was a lot of fun. I eventually adjusted to the schedule, so no dosing off, lol.

And the benefits of working it is that everyone is gone, the atmosphere is more laid back.

I have seen those who likes working at night just like you. That is the best time for them to be active. During the day, they seem dull and wants to sleep more instead.
