Has the Internet Made It Easier to Learn New Things but Harder to Know What's True?

The internet has made learning new things easier than ever. You can learn a new skill, explore different cultures, or find answers to questions in seconds. But the problem is that not everything we see online is true, and sometimes even false information is presented so confidently that it's hard to tell the difference.

Do you think the internet has made us more knowledgeable, or has it made it harder to separate facts from misinformation?

The internet has undoubtedly made us more knowledgeable by giving us instant access to endless information. While misinformation is widespread, the ability to learn and explore online is unprecedented. Ultimately, the internet is just a tool; distinguishing facts from falsehoods comes down to individual critical thinking. As long as we verify sources and evaluate content carefully, the digital age remains an empowering resource for gaining true knowledge.

It’s easier to learn things but there is that missing education piece as when people talk about stuff it often include the line “I saw it mentioned on the internet”. So instantly people think everything is real.

Anything that you want to learn and you depend on online tutorials only without practical trials overtime, you won't be able to learn it well. What we get from online tutorial is basic, or foundational. If it is a good tutorial, it takes you to intermediate level. But that is fine because it gives access.

You cannot find answers for everything on the internet. For example, internet cannot tell you what is beyond our observable universe. However, internet has been used to spread misinformation. I am not saying that the internet is useless. Internet is certainly useful. However, you just know what kind of information you are seeking and you should also confirm the information as well.

I have learned so many new things just by using AI over the last few months, some things that I feel I would never have learned had AI not been as developed as it is now.

You are right about knowing what is true or not and how difficult it can be to tell the difference when it comes to the internet, and especially when using AI. Unfortunately, too many are relying on AI and just believing that what it spews out is true.

Oh come on it is not even that difficult. Yes the internet has presented facts to our fingertips, but some of these information might need you to simply verify them. So that should not be a cause for worry.

Both are simply the true. You can learn coding on YouTube free, but at the same time YouTube is full of fake news and scam tutorials.

Fake news is everywhere now, whatsapp group, Twitter, Facebook, name them. You could even buy the wrong medicine if you are relying too much on online information.
