Welcome to Spark Showdown, where communities, forums, websites and online projects go head-to-head in friendly battles decided by the Spark Promotion community!

Each Showdown is designed to help communities get exposure, discover new sites and enjoy a little friendly competition.

🏆 1. What is a Spark Showdown?

Spark Showdowns are friendly battles between two online communities or projects.

Each Showdown features two communities and a poll where Spark Promotion members can vote for the community they prefer.

Showdowns are organised and moderated by Spark Promotion staff.

🎯 2. How Showdowns Work

  • Each Showdown features two communities or projects.

  • A poll is included in the Showdown topic.

  • Spark Promotion members can vote for their preferred community.

  • The poll remains open for the period stated in the Showdown topic.

  • Once the poll closes, the result is recorded as the final result.

  • New Showdowns may be organised regularly.

  • We may even give out spot prizes during some Showdowns! 🎁

💡 3. Nominating a Community

Want to see your community take part in a future Spark Showdown?

You can nominate:

  • Your own community or website.

  • A community or website where you are a staff member.

  • Another community you'd like to see featured.

⚡ Submit Your Nomination

All nominations should be submitted in our dedicated nomination topic:

Nominate Your Community for a Spark Showdown

Please include:

  • Community/project name

  • Website or community URL

  • A brief reason you'd like it to participate

Nominations don't guarantee a place in a Showdown. Spark Promotion staff will select communities and pairings for future battles.

🤝 4. Participating in a Showdown

If your community is selected, you're welcome to:

  • Promote the Showdown to your members.

  • Encourage your members to participate.

  • Share the Showdown topic on your website or social media.

  • Invite people to check out both participating communities.

🎁 Spot Prizes

Keep an eye out during Showdowns — Spark Promotion may occasionally give out spot prizes!

These could be awarded at any time during a Showdown and may be available to participating communities, voters or other eligible members.

Spot prizes are not guaranteed for every Showdown, and details will be announced when prizes are available.

Please keep promotion friendly and don't pressure people into voting.

🗳️ 5. Voting

Voting should be genuine and based on each member's own preference.

Do not:

  • Create duplicate accounts to influence a poll.

  • Use bots or automated voting.

  • Manipulate or interfere with the poll.

  • Offer rewards specifically in exchange for votes.

  • Organise harassment or targeted voting against another community.

Spark Promotion may investigate suspicious voting activity where necessary.

🤝 6. Keep It Friendly

Spark Showdown is friendly competition, not a rivalry that should become personal.

Do not:

  • Insult or attack another community.

  • Make personal attacks against owners, staff or members.

  • Deliberately attempt to damage another participant's reputation.

  • Encourage harassment or disruption.

  • Use the Showdown as an excuse to create conflict.

Healthy rivalry is welcome. Personal hostility isn't.

⏰ 7. Showdown Duration

The closing date for each poll will be clearly stated in the Showdown topic.

Once the poll closes, the result is considered final unless there is a clear technical issue or significant evidence of voting manipulation.

🔥 8. Staff Decisions

Spark Promotion staff organise and moderate Spark Showdowns.

Staff may:

  • Select or decline nominations.

  • Choose Showdown pairings.

  • Remove inappropriate nominations.

  • Extend, close or restart a Showdown where necessary.

  • Investigate suspected vote manipulation.

  • Take action when these rules are broken.

  • Decide when and how spot prizes are offered.

Staff decisions regarding the organisation and moderation of Showdowns are final.

🚫 9. Ineligible or Problematic Entries

A community may be declined or removed from a Showdown where its participation would create significant moderation, legal, safety or community concerns.

Spark Promotion may also decline nominations that appear intended to cause disruption or conflict.

🎉 10. Have Fun!

Spark Showdown is about discovering communities, supporting fellow webmasters and having a bit of friendly competition.

Whether you win or lose, participating gives your community an opportunity to reach a new audience — and you might even walk away with a surprise prize! 🎁⚡

Got a community you'd like to see in a future Showdown? Submit your nomination and let the sparks fly! ⚡
